Summer update

Just popping by to let you know what I’ve been up to lately, since things rather unexpectedly quieted down after my last post in February. I really wanted to keep making crochet patterns, I thought I’d found a good flow, but well… life happened, I guess. Long story short, the spring semester was (most likely) the end of my life as a university student, for a variety of reasons I won’t get into. So now I’m at home with my mother, working my usual summer job, and in the fall I’m not really sure what will happen. We shall see πŸ™‚

In June there was the now semi-annual local fair where I (and a bunch of other people) sell stuff we’ve made. There’s a cafe with fish soup and cakes, and a play and choir song for entertainment. The weather was horrible this year, but still the fair was a huge success πŸ™‚ I sold most of my remaining Dudes and some other small things, like cupcakes and keychains. Small things tend to sell well, so I’ll be stocking up on those for next time πŸ™‚

The table I shared with my mother. She knits things and I crochet πŸ™‚

Otherwise this summer I’ve kept myself busy with work, reading, chasing bugs and trying to learn French. And I’ve been tablet weaving again. I still haven’t quite figured it out, but after three attempts, I ended up with a pretty decent kivrim band made of crochet cotton. It’s so small!

My aunt just gave me some weaving cards she’s not using, so I’m going to try again and see if things will be easier with proper cards πŸ™‚

And now I’m starting to get ready for the Ravellenic Games in August. Opening ceremony is on Friday the fifth, only ten days away! I’ll still be working, though, so I can’t be as efficient as I’d like, but I’m hopefully going to shrink my UFO pile quite a bit anyway πŸ™‚

Oh! I almost forgot to say, I now have a new laptop! πŸ˜€ I’m really quite pleased with it (despite Windows 10 – ugh), but I don’t yet have a proper writing program for my crochet patterns… Looking for an affordable option, but I suppose I’ll end up buying MS Office, because I don’t like changes and I want to keep the formatting of my patterns as it’s always been :/ I don’t know when this will happen, but I do want to get some new patterns out in the fall. Fingers crossed I’ll find a solution πŸ™‚
